Our Story
SMART Education Consulting was founded with a clear and purposeful mission: to bridge proven, effective classroom practices from the United States with the realities, strengths, and needs of educators across Sierra Leone and Africa.
Our work is rooted in firsthand classroom experience. We understand the daily challenges teachers and school leaders face, ranging from managing diverse classrooms and limited resources to supporting students who carry complex social and emotional needs. Through this lived experience, SMART Education Consulting is committed to equipping educators with practical, evidence-based strategies that can be immediately applied in real classrooms.
We provide high-quality professional development focused on classroom management, building and sustaining strong student–teacher relationships, and using student-driven data to inform instruction, growth, and opportunity. Our training goes beyond theory. It is hands-on, culturally responsive, and designed to strengthen both teaching practice and school culture.
At SMART Education Consulting, we believe that when educators are supported, empowered, and equipped with the right tools, students thrive. The Founder
SMART Education Consulting was founded by Amira Catherine Koroma, an intentional and impact-driven leader committed to transforming education through innovation, equity, and practical action. A positive disruptor at heart, Amira brings a multidisciplinary background spanning education, advocacy, business analysis, and educational consulting, with direct classroom experience in the United States.
Amira’s journey as an educator has been shaped by firsthand experience working with diverse student populations and navigating the complex realities of today’s classrooms. Through this work, she developed a deep conviction that teachers are the foundation of every successful education system and that sustainable change begins with equipping educators with the right tools, ongoing support, and strong leadership development.
Her passion for education is also deeply personal. Her beloved father served as a dedicated educator for over four decades, and witnessing his lifelong commitment to teaching and community development profoundly shaped her appreciation for the role educators play in nation-building. This legacy continues to fuel her desire to support, uplift, and advocate for teachers.
Rooted in her Sierra Leonean heritage and guided by a global perspective, Amira founded SMART Education Consulting to bridge proven international best practices with cultural understanding and local realities. Through this work, she remains committed to strengthening safe, inclusive, and high-quality learning environments where educators are empowered, and students are positioned to thrive across Africa.
